Alberto Martini, "Memento Vivere, Memento Mori", early 1900's. This illustration was created for an anthology of works by Edgar Allen Poe from the early 1900's. Text was added by PPC: “Memento Vivere, Memento Mori.” Remember to live, remember you will die. Alberto Martini was born 11/24/1876 in Oderzo, Veneto Italy and died 11/8/1954 Milan, Italy. His first art teacher was his father, Giorgio, who was a professor of drawing at the Instituto Technico in Treviso. Throughout his career, Alberto illustrated for such notable magazines as Dekorative Kunst and Jugend. Although known for his stark, macabre, and grotesque work with pen and ink, he also loved to create colorful scenes with pastels. High-quality, breathable, long-lasting screen print.
